Getting started

How do I start recording?

Open Neoday on Apple Watch and tap Tap to start. Tap anywhere while recording to mark a moment, and press and hold for about a second to stop. watchOS does not let apps start the microphone on their own, so scheduled windows remind you to tap start.

Neoday isn’t on my Apple Watch.

When Automatic App Install is on, watchOS usually installs it within a minute. Otherwise open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps in My Watch, and tap Install next to Neoday.

How do I set a recording schedule?

In Settings › Watch recording you can add recording windows for chosen weekdays, including windows that cross midnight. When a window ends, Neoday stops and releases the microphone. You can also pause for 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or until the window ends.

Sync

My recordings haven’t reached my iPhone.

Keep both devices nearby, and open Neoday on the iPhone. The Watch and iPhone each show what is waiting and why. Use Sync now to ask again. Recordings stay on the Watch until the iPhone confirms it has a complete copy.

How quickly do conversations appear?

It depends on the sync speed you choose. Real-time sends a short chunk at each pause while your iPhone is nearby, so conversations appear sooner but the Watch uses more battery. Battery saver sends longer clips, so conversations appear later.

Transcription

Transcription is slow or hasn’t started.

On-device transcription runs while Neoday is open, or when iOS gives it background time. Open Settings › Transcription to see what is waiting and to tap Transcribe now. If you only allow transcription while charging, it waits for power.

How do I use my own transcription service?

Go to Settings › Transcription › Cloud service and enter your own API key for OpenRouter, Groq or OpenAI. Audio is uploaded only after you confirm the upload prompt, and you can turn upload off at any time. Your provider may charge you for its use.

Can I fix a transcript?

Yes. Open a conversation to edit the text, label speakers or restore the original. Your edits are used in search, AI answers and exports.

AI

Apple Intelligence isn’t available.

Neoday shows the reason in Settings › AI model, such as an unsupported device, Apple Intelligence turned off, the model still downloading, or the language. Until it is ready, recording, transcription and search still work, and you can add your own AI provider’s key.

How do I use my own AI provider?

Go to Settings › AI model and enter your key for DeepSeek, OpenAI, OpenRouter or another OpenAI-compatible service. Automatic processing with your own key is off until you turn it on, so you stay in control of costs.

Battery

How do I make the Watch battery last longer?

Record only during the windows you need, choose Battery saver sync, and pick a lower recording quality. Neoday also pauses recording when the Watch drops below the battery level you set (20% by default) or enters Low Power Mode, and tells you.

Your data

How do I back up or export my recordings?

Settings › Data & privacy › Audio backup copies recordings to an iCloud Drive folder or to a NAS on your home Wi-Fi. You can also export any day or hour as a ZIP with audio, transcript and AI notes.

How do I delete my data?

In Settings you can limit how long audio is kept, and remove API keys. Deleting Neoday from your iPhone and Apple Watch removes everything it stored on them. Neoday has no server, so nothing else needs to be deleted.
